Lake Miramichi Board of Directors

Nine board members are elected to a 3 year term. The board may appoint new members to fill the remainder of a term vacated by a board member that can no longer serve. 

Board President

Mark Pyle: Is co-owner of De Weerd and Van Dyke Inc., a heating and cooling, electrical and plumbing contracting business located in Hudsonville, Michigan.  Over the last 23 years has been involved with land development as well as constructing rental properties and commercial buildings for sale and lease.  Has served on the Zeeland City Planning Commission, and currently is on the Zeeland City Tax Review Board.  Current Board responsibility: member of the LMPOA Board’s Ad Hoc Committee charged with reviewing and re-writing the Association’s governing documents.   

Board Vice President

Robert Watts, DDS: An independent businessman who maintains a flourishing dental practice in Williamston, Michigan. As sole owner/operator, brings expertise in virtually all functions associated with business – bookkeeping, employee management, payroll, purchasing, insurance, licensing and more – all while maintaining active membership in the Michigan Dental Association.  Current Board responsibility: in charge of clubhouse rental and scheduling.     

Secretary

Richardstewart

Richard Stewart: Retired university professor and administrator. Member, Board of Trustees, Grand Rapids Community College. Experienced in matters pertaining to policy-based governance, and in producing written communication.  Currently completing two consecutive three-year terms on Board. Current Board responsibility: Board Secretary, Chairman of Nominating Committee, Newsletter editor/writer, member of ad hoc board committee reviewing LMPOA governing documents.

Board Director

Dennis Bryant: Real estate agent with Britz Reality in Evart and permanent Lake Miramichi resident of thirty-six years. Has served a good number of terms on the Board, including two as president.  Over the years has led activities to ensure the lakes’ preservation and quality by acting as liaison for the Association with PLM Lake Management Corp. (under contract to service our lakes), by overseeing and doing work on the lakes’ dams, and by controlling water levels in response to seasonal and weather-related situations.  Has established wide networking and good relationships through many years in the real estate business with local and county law enforcement, whose help and advice have often been beneficial to the Association.  Current Board responsibility: lake preservation and maintenance.   

Board Director

Jeffrey Botkin: Currently Vice President of Group Operations at Delta Dental Plan of Michigan.  Previously Technical Deliver Manager for Electronic Data Systems, where he managed information technology projects for General Motors, the State of Michigan and other large clients.  He has served as President of the Jehnsen Lake Association, and is a member of Lansing Community College’s IT Advisory Committee.  Current Board responsibility: providing technical assistance to the LMPOA Treasurer; serving as Board liaison to the LMPOA web site manager.

Bruce Johnson: Owner of an investment counseling firm employing 17 people and managing approximately $900 million in assets, with thirty-four years of experience in the investment business.  Served for 16 years on the Michigan Municipal Employees Retirement System board, and on a number of boards over the years from foundations to non-profits and start up organizations.  Current Board responsibility: Chairman of the LMPOA Board’s Ad Hoc Committee charged with revising the Association’s governing documents, liaison to the Ad Hoc Committee’s legal counsel, and LMPOA asset management. 

Board Director

John Cataldo: Independent businessman and permanent Lake Miramichi resident; owner/operator of Triple C Excavating.  Expertise in techniques of construction  and topographical management associated with excavation and grading, and in the use and maintenance of the types of heavy and/or specialized machinery requisite to such tasks.  Extensive knowledge of contractors, skilled construction/service specialists and suppliers around the county.  Current Board responsibility: formulating and overseeing long-range plans for restoring and maintaining Lake Miramichi’s roads.
